NYSC: Corps Members Allowance Increases With Minimum Wage Only

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is a scheme that is required of Nigerian graduates to participate in. The scheme has been incorporated into the system for a very long time and it still has its clock ticking.

Participating members of the scheme are entitled to a specific allowance which covers transportation and other necessary incentives. However,  Corps members have been in the dark as to whether their allowance have been increased from =N=19,800.00 to a new amount,  as rumoured.

The Director-General of the National Youth

Service Corps (NYSC), Brigader Gen. Sale Zakari Kazaure has discredited rumours of increment in the monthly allowances of serving corps members across the country by the Federal Government.

He explained that corps members are likened to civil servants, as a result, increment in Corps members allowance by the Federal Government can only be possible if minimum wage is increased.

Corps members are advised to disregard news of increment in their “allawee”. Nonetheless, as soon as minimum wage for civil servants is increased, Corps members allowances will automatically be increased likewise.NYSC

    1. The minimum wage is currently been deliberated on… Information reaching us has it that the increment is likely not to exceed 25,000 naira… However we would update this post appropriately, as soon as the new figure is announced.
