Facebook is a top social media platform with hundreds of million subscribers. This social media platform keeps growing as long as child birth continues.
Despite the fact that Facebook is known for its popularity, not all news displayed on this platform are real. This means that some of the news we find could be Fake or false.
However, Facebook has said that it will not remove fake/false news from its platform because it does not violate its community standards. Publishers often had “very different points of view” and removing fabricated posts would be “contrary to the basic principles of free speech”.
A news is considered to be false/fake only when FB users file in complaints for that particular news.
Here is Facebook’s strategy to combating this false/fake news.
Facebook says it would not remove fake news that did not break its rules but would down-rank content that had been marked as false.
“We allow people to post it as a form of expression, but we’re not going to show it at the top of News Feed,” a spokeswoman told CNN.
Instead, it says posts that it deems to be fake news will be “demoted” in the news feed.
