The social media platform Facebook seems to be undergoing a community purge as it takes measures to encourage decency online.
The social network yesterday, Tuesday, August 22, 2018 said that it had removed 652 pages, groups, and accounts for “coordinated inauthentic behavior” that included the sharing of political material.
These accounts were believed to be linked to Russia and Iran. After several investigations on these groups, pages and accounts, it was realized that they linked to Iran and some involving Russia.
Authenticity matters and people need to be able to trust the connections they make on Facebook. Facebook would take measures to monitor its platform and regulate safety in groups, pages and whatever connection there is.
Security is not something that you ever fully solve,” Zuckerberg said. “Our adversaries are sophisticated and well-funded, but the shift we have made from reactive to proactive detection is a big change and is going to make Facebook safer over time.”
